Year 13 Trip to “Othello”
Published: Mon 2 February 2026Last week, I had the fortune of taking Year 13 English Literature
students to see Tom Morris’ adaptation of ‘Othello’, starring
David Harewood, Toby Jones and Caitlin Fitzgerald. It was an
exceptionally important experience for our students to finally
see one of their set texts live, allowing them to have a secure
grasp of the theatricality of the play. Tanisha said: ‘Being able to
watch a visual representation of ‘Othello’ allowed me to create
interpretations and new ideas based on what I am studying.
The play and the experience was amazing as it brought not
only the characters but the play to life.I was able to develop a
stronger understanding of staging and linguistics to deepen my
knowledge of the play. This truly demonstrated how there is a
variety of perspectives and interpretations of ‘Othello’.
We look forward to organising more English trips across the key stages of the Academy.
