City of London Academy Islington Awards Evening 2025
Published: Thu 11 December 2025On Thursday 4th December 2025, the Academy community gathered for our annual Awards Evening, celebrating the achievements, character and commitment of our students. Families, staff and special guests enjoyed a warm reception before taking their seats in the Atrium for the ceremony, hosted by Principal Mr Glees.
The evening showcased remarkable academic success across all year groups. In Year 7, awards went to George, Raiee, Denisa, Valerie, Joudy and Alexander. Year 8 recognised Jeanette, Sienna, Serena, Sadia and Safia. From Year 9, congratulations were given to Conrad, Annabel, Tomas, Isabel, Vanessa, Tiago and Precious. Year 10 celebrated Elsa, Amy, Rayan, Sienna, Lacey and Ijeoma, while Year 11 honoured Jaiden, Martin, Tanzim, Thomas, Berk, Erik, Tia and Jahmai. In the Sixth Form, Year 12 winners were Edgar, Masud, Samir, Adam, Niamh and Leonard, and Year 13 leavers recognised were Aya, Liliya, Shada, Bailey, Erencan and Abdullahi.
Head of Year Awards were also presented to students who made exceptional contributions to their year groups: Santy (Year 7), Obinna (Year 8), Amelia (Year 9), Yann‑Loic (Year 10), Martin (Year 11), Minte (Year 12) and Shakil (Year 13).
The ceremony also highlighted leadership and service in our cadet programme, with awards presented to Precious (Best Cadet Shield), Tia (HAC Cane) and Edgar (Mercer’s Sword). Special partnership awards followed, recognising outstanding qualities including community spirit, resilience and sporting character. These went to Ethan (Fletchers’ Sporting Spirit Award), Joey (Glovers’ Community Contribution Award), Cedrik (Saddlers’ Student Award) and Mr Durak (Saddlers’ Staff Award). The City, University of London Exceptional Student Award was presented to Liliya for outstanding sixth‑form results, and the prestigious Principal’s Award was awarded to Ijeoma.
Musical performances by Raiee, Amelia and the COLAI Choir added warmth and celebration to the evening.
In his closing address, Mr Glees praised all award recipients for their dedication and resilience, and thanked families and staff for their support. The Awards Evening once again demonstrated the ambition, talent and spirit that define our Academy. Congratulations to all of our winners.
