At COLAI we aim to provide an exceptional level of care and education for every individual student. The Academy, which opened in September 2008, is a mixed, non-selective Academy, with no religious affiliation, committed to providing excellence in education and opportunities for all.
At GCSE, student progress is outstanding. In 2016, 93% of students achieved A*-C in English and 68% of students achieved 5 A*-C passes including English and Mathematics. We secured a Progress 8 score of 0.81, which placed us in the top 1% nationally for student progress at GCSE. Furthermore, the Academy has been named the sixth best school in London and the 15th best school in the country out of 6,382 schools. Exceptional performance was also achieved in Modern Foreign Languages with 100% A*-C passes in German, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Italian and 96% A*-C passes in French.
Our Advanced Level pass rate is at 100%. In 2016 our A*-A grades more than doubled and 100% of our Year 13 students secured a place at university. Many of our students have been successful in achieving the top Advanced Level grades and have consistently secured places at prestigious Russell Group universities.
Leadership and management are recognised as outstanding (Ofsted 2014) and we are determined to continue to improve to an outstanding judgement at the next Ofsted inspection. Our results reflect the aspiration, determination and hard work by all students and staff at the Academy and I am always exceptionally proud of what we achieve together.
At COLAI, we are totally committed to providing the absolute best for the young people of Islington. We firmly believe all students can succeed and we work to inspire a determination within the Academy for all to achieve the highest of expectations. We aim to fully maximise student success by ensuring that all students are provided with rich, high quality educational opportunities, within our culture of high aspiration where achievement is recognised and celebrated. It is our determination to ensure that all students at the Academy progress, achieve and are provided with the support and challenge to excel.
As Principal of COLAI, I very much hope you take the opportunity to visit us and I look forward to welcoming you to the Academy.
