Careers and Work Related Learning Policy

The academy ethos is that there is ‘a total commitment to improving the lives of the young people of Islington by serving the local community as a vibrant centre of learning, known for our academic excellence and our unrelenting determination for everyone to succeed.’

COLAI Careers Department is working towards the Quality in Careers Award and implementing the Gatsby Benchmarks.

The academy has a stable careers programme that includes one to one sessions with a level 7 careers advisor and offers work experience in Year 10 and Year 12.

The department has developed a planned, progressive programme of activities that supports students in choosing educational pathways that suit their interests and abilities.

Supports lifelong career management to help students follow appropriate career paths and sustain employability throughout their working lives.

COLAI policy on CEIAG: Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance recognises and conforms to the statutory guidance issued by the Department for Education in October 2018. The Career policy is due for review in January 2020.
